Cache of the Month – July 2023

GC8T01R Eden Valley Lookout – Placed by Dazzle072 (adopted by Mattycat 12/22)

This cache is one of the less found on the edge of the Barossa Valley. It has been found by a further 61 cachers since our find in early 2021 (was it really that long ago). If you haven’t found it, use it as an excuse to visit the Barossa Valley/Adelaide Hills region to find a log fire in a country establishment when it is too cold to cache all day. Admire the landscape as you approach the cache. Consider the community commitment to creating and
maintaining this location. Imagine the gatherings here on those special occasions in our Australian calendar.

The cache is not far from the bitumen on a good dirt road. If you want to have a good ride or hike utilise the nearby Lavender Federation Trail in spring. For those who prefer motorized transport you could travel some of the adjacent more interesting all-weather roads on a motorbike or four-wheel drive.

The cache is an easy find but heed the CO’s warning, dress warm with an outer windproof layer. Take your camera.                                                  By Gordon Patrick Samuel (Julie)

….“On the way we couldn’t help but stop here and are so glad that we did. Not only was it a great lookout over Eden Valley but it had a lot of information about the area as well. It would be quite a scene here on Easter Sunday”…. Log by Team Crackers

“Found while having a late afternoon drink and nibbles at this lovely picnic spot. The views and outlook make it worth visiting and finding a cache here is a bonus”. Log by Chrisval7

“A majestic view around sunset. I was lucky to find myself up here alone as the sun was sinking into the west. Almost a religious experience”. Log by TeamAstro
