An awesome family friendly cache. There are very few geocaches you want to visit again and again. This is one of those caches. I find myself returning with friends & family to show them the brilliance and fun of this cache.
Gawler Fort Knox was published by **JEM** on 3rd May 2015. In the short time since publication the cache has had 379 finds logged being awarded a massive 250 Favourite Points, roughly 83% of finders awarded favourite points (at the time of writing). The second highest favoured cache in South Australia.
At the 2015 South Australian Geocaching Awards Gawler Fort Knox was awarded the Best Multi Cache and the Best Overall Cache.
Gawler Fort Knox can be found in Gawler which is located 42 kilometres north of Adelaide at the edge of the metropolitan area. Make a small detour as you pass through here on your way to the Barossa Wine Region.
At the posted coordinates a cleverly hidden waypoint leads you to the final location. If your formative years consisted of days spent at a Mall playing arcade games, that “training” might assist with solving this field puzzle. The effects are better if done at night with lights that lead the way.
When asking **JEM**, a technician by trade, what inspired him to put the effort into this creation, he replied “we did caches years ago when it (geocaching) first came out. There was basically a cache under a bush… so I decided to do something different. It was going to be a Christmas themed cache in the beginning. It changed so many times over the creation but eventually got to this stage”
This cache is a safe haven to drop Travel Bugs and Geocoins. There always seems to be a good supply ready to be grabbed and moved along.
The cache is on private property with authorisation. Call the Cache Owner when visiting. He enjoys the visitors.
